  March 26 is a significant day for those of Bangladeshi heritage - it remembers the beginning of the nine-month war the resulted in their independence in December of 1971.  Some friends of ours invited us to a gathering in their home along with many Bangladeshi nationals who work here in Malaysia.  We had a great time of learning about some of their history, meeting some of these men and enjoying some great tandoori chicken, biryani rice and dhal.  The older man in this picture was very animated as he shared his perspective on the war for independence which occurred in 1971, when he was just 21 years old.  Couldn't understand a thing he was saying, but we sure could hear his enthusiasm for the subject!

As Josh was talking tonight about college applications and what accomplishments he would be  able to put on them, it reminded me of this business card he made ten years ago, and that I still  carry in my wallet.  I think he's got a few more things to add to his resume now!

  One of the boats out on the morning waters searching for whale sharks.  After nearly two hours of slowly moving through the water, our guides started shouting for us to get ready and we were the first ones to see the whale shark.  A little while later, we all jumped in the water to see the second one....swimming along with him for more than ten minutes.  Amazing experience!
