Hot cross buns...it's tradition!

I remember when I was a kid, waiting for the street sweepers to come in the spring to get rid of all the gravel so I could ride my bike.  Here in Penang, street sweepers work year round...and they look a little different!!

Pretty night view down at Straits Quay...would be fun to be friends with somebody who  owns one of these boats...I love being out on the water!

It was great to bring Chan-Mi along to LifeBridge today - she loved the kids and we loved hearing all about what God has been doing in her life this year.

March 26 is a significant day for those of Bangladeshi heritage - it remembers the beginning of the nine-month war the resulted in their independence in December of 1971.  Some friends of ours invited us to a gathering in their home along with many Bangladeshi nationals who work here in Malaysia.  We had a great time of learning about some of their history, meeting some of these men and enjoying some great tandoori chicken, biryani rice and dhal.  The older man in this picture was very animated as he shared his perspective on the war for independence which occurred in 1971, when he was just 21 years old.  Couldn't understand a thing he was saying, but we sure could hear his enthusiasm for the subject!

Dorm # 3 of the year - Jaffray Dorm. They were all so reserved and quiet...except, of course, during Bunco.  It must be because they are all just so mature!

We spent the evening at the school for the Food and Fun Fair and Junior for Hire.  Caught Josh and Hank sitting down at the white tables waiting for the bidding.

A simple yummy chocolate cake to celebrate Josh's 17th birthday - so proud of the young man of character and integrity that he is becoming.

I told the guys I really wanted them to make me cards for my birthday....Josh is very proud that he used both layers and a special ink technique...and I post these even though my age will be known to all...because I really do love that they made me cards!!!

For some reason, I really wanted to make pavlova, so we invited some company over and enjoyed a delicious pavlova with passionfruit cream and fresh fruit, including strawberries which are a rare treat!

Decadent desserts at 'Delicious' tonight...loved my flourless orange cake....awesome end to  a really great birthday!

I love to eat at 'Delicious' -  peaceful and relaxing decor in shades of aqua with these beautiful lanterns clustered on the ceiling.   Enjoyed a lovely lunch with good friends there today.

As we travel around Penang I see lots of interesting signs...this one makes me laugh...don't think I want to be an 'Eternal Old Folk'!!

As we were headed out this evening I stopped down by the entrance to our community - to the left is the guardhouse for our homes - to the right is Alila Horizon - apartments by the same developer.  So beautiful in the dusk.

Josh was inducted into the National Honor Society today - an organization that recognizes and rewards Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.  Congratulations to all new inductees!

One of the things I love about Malaysia is the abundance of greenery everywhere you look.  This is the garden area in our 'back yard' which is actually a common area for everyone to use.

I took a short walk down by the beach this morning before our worship gathering....a beautiful and peaceful spot.

It was great having Chandler dorm over tonight - they are a loud and fun bunch!!

After many days of tropical rains, we saw the sun today and could finally get some of our laundry dry!

Yet another sick day doesn't make for a very exciting 'kodak moment'....Thai jute balls in an Indonesian tile tray on my coffee table it is....

After spending almost six hours at the hospital, I came home with a diagnosis of an upper respiratory infection and three different medications.  Here's hoping I feel better soon.

When students win a State competition, they can ditch the school uniforms, dress up and wear their medals for a day.  Looking good, Josh!

Today has been a miserable sick day.  Enough said.
